I cleaned my entire house with this $54 mop that's an Amazon bestseller — I understand why it's ranked so highly

I was raised by a bonafide clean freak (hi, mom), and thus, I was taught from a very early age that cleanliness, at least in our household, was, in fact, next to godliness. As I am my mother's daughter, I tend to vacuum every other day and mop once or twice a week.

For many years, my mop of choice was the Swiffer WetJet Spray Mop. It's great on tough messes and leaves behind a fresh, clean scent. However, refilling the pads and cleaning solution adds up, so I was after a new mop that checked two important boxes: 1) it had to have reusable pads, and 2) it didn't require a specific cleaning solution.

This 2-in-1 mop system features two separate chambers for washing and drying, so you're never left with too much leftover liquid on the floor. Between the chambers, there's a scraper blade that squeezes out the liquid from the microfiber pads and removes any remaining grit, hair, dust or dirt.

The mop head can rotate 360 degrees to tackle hard-to-get-to areas, including underneath furniture, baseboards and your walls. Its adjustable stainless steel handle extends from 26.5 to 50 inches, and the mop comes with three machine-washable microfiber mop pads.

• The scraper is great: There's a lot I like about this 2-in-1 mop and bucket system. Firstly, it is straightforward to set up (and dismantle). Secondly, it works! If you find a traditional wringer mop to be a pain in the you-know-what, the scraper addition to the JOYMOOP mop is thoughtful and practical. I find it removes water far more efficiently than a wringer mop, and if you scrape it a few times, it won't drip or leave behind an excessive amount of water on your floor.

• The mop pads: Additionally, I love how it has a mopping pad instead of a giant mop head. Cleaning your floors feels more akin to a Swiffer than a mop because you can be super precise.

• Universal cleaning solution: Unlike a Swiffer and similar to a traditional mop and bucket, I also appreciate how you can customize your cleaning solution. You don't need to constantly re-buy a specific solution or mopping pads.

• The pads are machine-washable: One of the main reasons I wanted this mop is because I wanted to be able to throw the pads into the washing machine. They wash beautifully (I air dry them to avoid any possible shrinkage), and because they're microfiber, I feel comfortable throwing them in with other towels or dish rags.

• It needs a third compartment: There's very little I dislike about this mop, however, I do wish there was a way you could separate the clean and dirty water. The scraper scrapes the grime back into the clean water, so if your floors are particularly filthy, you may need to go over them more than once to feel satisfied with the clean.

• It's best for bigger jobs: The mop requires a minimum amount of water to be fully submerged. Because you need to fill the bucket every time you mop, it's better to use it for an entire floor, thorough mop rather than a quick clean-up.
