Angela Price claps back after being shamed for breastfeeding photo

While it’s Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price who usually makes headlines, his wife stepped into the spotlight on Tuesday with an honest account of her breastfeeding journey.

Angela Price, who has her own lifestyle blog, By Angela Price, shared her struggle with moving from breastmilk to formula. When she wasn’t able to produce as much breastmilk and her five-month-old daughter Liv started to lose weight, she knew what she had to do. She started by using formula to top off her breastmilk after nursing, but by eight months admitted that she gave up pumping altogether and would give Liv a full bottle of formula when she wasn’t around.

“I have to admit I struggled a little with this. Topping her off with formula was one thing, but giving her a full bottle of formula was harder for me. But let me tell you, once the stress of pumping was gone I felt like a new person. I now think that was the best decision I have made so far,” Price wrote.

Price also shared how they introduced Liv to different types of milk around when she turned one, including organic, grass-fed local cow’s milk and raw milk, how they switched bedtime routines and their attempts to wean her off the bottle.

While most reactions to the post were positive, some took offense, in particular with the black and white photo of Price nursing Liv, which she also posted on Instagram.

One Instagram user @Jack_mcp39ke commented, “Wtf ew.” But Price swiftly clapped back with, “People like you is why I wanted to post this picture. Grow up.”

Her followers were quick to defend her too, some praised her for sharing while others used the hashtag #normalizebreastfeeding.

We have to agree with @liveandrea26. It’s 2017 people, let’s do better.
