All the Archival Karl Lagerfeld Looks at the 2023 Met Gala

The 2023 Met Gala is celebrating the work of Karl Lagerfeld — so, naturally, many celebrities decided to honor the late designer by digging through the archives and bringing back some of his original creations.

Dua Lipa, one of this year's co-chairs, was among the first to step onto the red carpet in a vintage Chanel gown by Lagerfeld, from the Fall 1992 Haute Couture collection. Speaking to Variety, she said of the look: "This dress is also very, very special and it's been on all my moodboards... The patrimony was very kind to lend it to me tonight."

Fellow co-chair Penélope Cruz — who's also a Chanel brand ambassador — opted for an archival look from the Spring 1998 haute couture collection. Nicole Kidman, meanwhile, revisited the pink silk tulle dress she wore in a Chanel N°5 advertising campaign directed by Baz Luhrmann in 2004.
