For AW24, Noah x Barbour Gives the Classics a New Feel
For his fifth collaboration with Barbour, Noah founder Brendon Babenzien was keen to keep the form of the British outfit's outerwear offerings intact.
“We stuck to the classic jacket shapes we’ve always loved from them,” says the NYC-based designer. “Barbour jackets, more than any other, have a timeless quality that allows them to get passed down from one generation to the next.”
So, to freshen things up, he looked to the materials, reinventing two of its traditional offerings using Casentino wool, Donegal wool and salt-washed cotton canvas.
The result is seven jackets that can all be categorised in one of three aesthetics: fuzzy, tweedy and time-worn.
It is the eighties-born Beadle Jacket that takes on two of these looks – fuzzy (achieved using the Casentino wool, a textile that dates back to the 14th century) and time-worn (realised by salt-washing cotton canvas).
The former arrives in “black”, “dark green” and “bright tangerine”; the latter is made in “black”, “green” and “dark green” and “pomegranate”.
The Border Jacket is where the tweed comes in.
A black foundation is brought to life by rainbow flecks, all made from Donegal wool woven for the collaboration by Magee mill in the material's namesake town.
That makes seven, all insulating and water-resistant enough to get you through the rest of the year on either side of the Atlantic.
Noah x Barbour autumn/winter 2024 will be available in Barbour stores and on the Barbour website from Monday 4 November.
