These Are The Biggest Records Broken By Taylor Swift's Eras Tour
Five continents, 19 countries, 149 performances, 10 million fans and an estimated $9 billion (£7.1 billion) in overall economic impact: you don't have to be a statistician to know that Taylor Swift's historic Eras Tour has broken records.
But as the highest grossing tour in history draws to a close – with the final show scheduled in Vancouver on December 8 – it's fascinating to take a closer look at the precise effects it has had (beyond changing the lives of Swifties everywhere, of course).

The full list of records broken by the tour is a lengthy one. It became the first one ever to cross the billion dollar threshold, surpassing Elton John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road as the biggest solo tour and Madonna’s Sticky and Sweet as the most lucrative from a female artist. Dominating stadiums around the world, Swift also set records for the biggest single-day attendances everywhere from Edinburgh and Liverpool to São Paulo and Sweden.
Then there are the social media numbers; depending on the will of your personal algorithmic gods, you might well have seen your feed inundated with guest appearances, surprise songs and remarkably in-depth analyses of costume changes in the last 18 months or so. Little wonder – the tour attracted more than 35 billion views by the end of 2023, with Swift content averaging 380 million views per day.
But most striking of all is the economic impact. According to Forbes, Swift has grossed $1.93 billion (£1.52 billion) in ticket sales from the Eras Tour – she was identified as a billionaire in October 2023 thanks to this success. Aside from direct revenue, the tour also hit headlines for boosting the GDP (the value of goods and services produced in an area) wherever it goes. Overall, this has reached an estimated $9 billion (£7.1 billion), with the highest boost recorded in the US, where it's thought to have generated more than $4 billion (£3.1 billion).
And who could forget Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, the film? Reportedly grossing more than $260 million (£207 million) at the box office, this cinematic masterstroke broke the record for the highest earning concert and documentary film. It overtook the previous record holder Michael Jackson's This Is It, and when it was subsequently released on Disney+ it broke records there too, viewed by 4.6 million people in its first three days.
However you approach the numbers, one thing is clear: our appetite for all things Eras is voracious. Let's just hope the Swift stream continues to flow once the tour draws to a close.
