Azealia Banks and Beth Ditto Work it at Milan Fashion Week
It'd be hard to name an rapper that has been more warmly embraced by fashion folks this year than Azealia Banks. She was chosen as the new face of Alexander Wang's T line, Mugler creative director Nicola Formichetti is styling her videos now and she's got her own M.A.C. lipstick color, Yung Rapunxel. Azealia's practically been touring with Fashion Week, performing at Spin party in her hometown of New York City, sitting front row in London, and most recently showing up to and performing for Just Cavalli in Milan.
She's working hard, but whether she's enjoying all of the attention is another thing. "Azealia Banks is here!!" Roberto Cavalli Tweeted excitedly along with a photo of the rapper in a patterned dress before his show started on Friday. Less than two hours later, Azealia responded, "Get me the f--- out of here."
Another musician who has made a real mark on the fashion industry is Beth Ditto, who also came out to support Milan Fashion Week. The lead singer of The Gossip, who has designed her own collection with M.A.C. (we're sensing a trend) is tight with designer Christopher Kane and, improbably, Donatella Versace.
