Gasp! Julie Andrews Didn’t Watch ‘The Sound of Music Live!’

Carrie Underwood starred as Maria in "The Sound of Music Live!" last week, playing a part that was portrayed by Julie Andrews in the classic 1965 film "The Sound of Music." While the live TV adaptation was watched by a total of 18.6 million viewers last Thursday, the star of the original movie was one person who missed it.

Julie told the Associated Press at the premiere of "Saving Mr. Banks" that she did not watch the three-hour show last week because she was otherwise engaged.

"Alas, I did not [see it]," she said. "I had a speaking engagement and I couldn't. But my kids did record it. I'll get around to it."

Lucky enough for Julie, she doesn't even have to watch it recorded anymore because NBC is planning on airing an encore of the production this Saturday at 8 p.m., and moving the Christmas classic, "It's a Wonderful Life" to the following Friday, Dec. 20th.
