Why this blogger finally decided to embrace wearing a crop top

Body positive blogger Kenzie Brenna is all about celebrating her body — but just last summer she didn’t feel confident enough to even wear a crop top.

At the time, the 26-year-old messaged fellow body positive bloggers Megan Jayne Crabbe (@bodyposipanda), Gina (@nourishandeat) and Michelle Elman (@scarrednotscared) to express her insecurities.

“I told them I was upset cause I wanted to wear this crop top I bought but I was too scared to wear it,” wrote Brenna, known as omgkenzieee, in a recent Instagram post. “They all gently told me that it’s OK to not be ready to do stuff and if it’s going to make you MORE uncomfortable than comfortable then don’t do it, so I didn’t. I wish I could have at the time but my heart wasn’t ready.”

Today, Brenna can happily say she has not only worn that crop top twice this summer, she’ll be rocking a bikini by Curvy Kate — something she says is a huge feat.

“And now? She’s my BEST FRIEND. And wearing a bikini!” the blogger excitedly stated. “GUYS. A. BIKINI. WHAT IS THIS LIFE.”

Brenna concluded that things take time, and sometimes you just have to give yourself the space you would give your best friend.

“Treat your body and mind good,” she wrote.

Brenna’s 185,000+ followers praised the blogger for her candidness and thanked her for inspiring them to be just as bold:

“So happy for you. You deserve to feel great in that bikini. Everyone does. Own it. Work it. It’s you and that’s exactly why you should and for no other reason. And you look bangin’ to boot.”

“You are amazing! Thank you for inspiring me daily. I’m finally learning to truly love myself, too.”
