Milliners rejoiced, the mayor spoke, and 750 fashionable ladies (and some brave gents) lunched.

The 14th annual Party In The Park Hat Luncheon in Boston raised nearly $1,000,000 for the Emerald Necklace Conservancy’s Justine Mee Liff Fund, which oversees the upkeep of Boston’s cherished green spaces.

A non-profit founded in 1998, the Emerald Necklace Conservancy protects, restores, maintains, and promotes the 1,100 acres of meadows, woodlands and paths of the Frederick Law Olmsted-designed Emerald Necklace park system that serves as a respite from the city for one million citizens and tourists each year.

Event chairs Ellie Cornish Chu, Christine Cusick, Danielle Frissell, Julie Hume Gordon and Holly Safford kept the crowd on their toes and their wallets open as they sold raffle tickets to win a piece of jewelry by Coomi (who sponsored the event and attended).

Julie Hume Gordon said it best: "The only thing grander than the heritage trees that the Emerald Necklace Conservancy maintains were the hats adorning the ladies who attended its annual luncheon."
