The memorial services in honor of George H. W. Bush began in earnest Monday morning, when his casket was transported from a funeral home in Houston to Ellington Field via motorcade. A departure ceremony was subsequently held, seeing off the former president's remains as they departed for Maryland. From Monday night until Wednesday morning, the casket laid in state in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda. A short service was held on Monday in the U.S. Capitol. On Wednesday morning, the state funeral took place at the National Cathedral. The following day, a second funeral is was held in Houston at St. Martin's Episcopal Church. Finally, the former president's remains will be interred at the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum late Thursday afternoon.
