You Can Buy McDonald’s Hash Browns at Aldi
Stock up and have crispy, golden breakfast potatoes any time you want.
Former McDonald's corporate chef @chefmikeharacz on TikTok has been known to spill some juicy fast food secrets, including where we can buy copycat McDonald’s chicken nuggets and the French fries to go along with them.
Now, he has a tip for us to recreate those yummy hash browns we love from McDonald’s right at home. Simply pick up a brand of hash browns sold at Aldi, and enjoy a similar taste to those we’d order at Mickey D’s, right in the comfort of your own home.
Where to Buy Copycat McDonald’s Hash Browns
If you’ve ever wanted to dabble in making copycat McDonald’s hash browns at home to help upgrade your usual breakfast routine, you’re in luck. You can make these favorite fast food breakfast potatoes as good as the ones you snag from the drive-thru with the help of an item that can easily be found at your local Aldi.
As Haracz said in his video, copycat McDonald’s hash browns are “one of the more requested items” he gets from his followers, and lucky for all of us, he is now telling us the secret behind where to get them.
While Haracz explains McDonald’s has its own specific recipe and formula making it hard to buy those exact ones, one major retailer, ahem, Aldi, offers something pretty darn similar.
“In the case of hash browns, there are quite a few that are almost identical to McDonald’s hash browns,” says Haracz and states the one he found to be the closest is “Season’s Choice Hash Browns” found in Aldi stores.

After comparing McDonald’s ingredients and nutritional info to various other hash brown brands, Haracz confirmed that Aldi’s Season’s Choice Hash Brown Patties were the closest to the real thing.
However, Haracz warns that even though these hash browns will come close, they won’t necessarily be the exact same thing. “McDonald’s fries their hash browns in an oil containing a beef flavor so that is something you might be missing when you fry them up and eat them,” he says. “Unless you have access to an oil-soluble beef flavor.”
To get these hash browns to taste “almost identical” to the ones you would buy at McDonald’s, Haracz says not to skip on the frying process—“you’re obviously going to wanna fry them” to be sure to achieve that perfect crispy golden exterior.
Bonus: You can use these frozen hash browns in many other favorite recipes as well.
