It's Called The Souper Bowl (Sort Of) For A Reason—These 20 Recipes Are A Guaranteed Touchdown

20 Soups For The Super Bowl PHOTO: BRANDON BALES

Super Bowl? Souper Bowl? Bowl of Soup? Thinly-veiled excuse to make a bad joke aside, I do genuinely think soup is the perfect companion to the big game. A solid, hearty soup is essentially comfort in a bowl, and anyone with a stake in the Super Bowl could use as much comfort as they can get. Plus, soup and the Super Bowl are intrinsically linked. The NFL has an official soup sponsor—Campbell’s—and NFL players can frequently be seen in soup advertisements. Players like Jason Kelce—former Eagle’s star center who played in Super Bowl LVII between, guess who? the Eagles and the Chiefs, and brother to Chief’s tight end Travis Kelce—has recently been seen in a number of Campbell’s canned soup commercials. All arguments aside, I think these recipes will do the real talking.

Hoping the tush push will send the Birds fly Eagles flying into the end zone? A pot of our Philly cheesesteak soup or green chili clam chowder will have your neighbors kelly green with envy. Pulling for a Chiefs three-peat? Try our classic chili for a bowl of red and gold, or eat the birds to beat the Birds with our white chicken chili, our homemade chicken soup, or our slow-cooker chicken tortilla soup.

Don’t really care about either team but sent out the invitations to your Super Bowl party when you still had faith your favorite team would make it? Any number of our comforting soups and stews like chicken Parm soup, creamy chicken marsala gnocchi soup, potato soup, or beef stew are sure to make the night a happy memory.

However you choose to celebrate Super Bowl LIX, we’ve got plenty of soup for your bowl!

Steak Au Poivre Soup

Steak au poivre is a French classic typically made with filet mignon or sirloin steak covered in a creamy, peppery sauce. The sauce is downright drinkable and was made to be eaten with a spoon, so we thought—let’s soup-ify it!

White Chicken Chili

This white chicken chili is one of my all-time favorites. Adding white beans makes this heartier than your average chicken noodle soup, and the addition of green chiles, jalapeño, and sour cream add the perfect amount of heat and creaminess to switch up classic chili.

Green Chili Clam Chowder

This green chile clam chowder takes after its red-tinged Manhattan cousin, but departs from it in a few key ways. This soup gets its color from hatch chiles and salsa verde. Instead of the customary potatoes, we’ve subbed in tender white beans to add a bit of richness.
