Canadian influencer Abbey Sharp shares money-saving meal prep tips to stay 'well fed'

Abbey Sharp is sharing a few helpful, economic tips for those wanting to meal prep.

The Toronto-based influencer and dietician took to Instagram on Thursday to share a photo of herself paired with an important message about planning meals in a budget-friendly way.

"How can you meal prep and save money in the process? Let's talk about it," Sharp penned to her more than 175,000 followers.

She explained that even though her career revolves around food, she hardly has the time or energy to make consistently make extravagant meals.

"I am a busy, busy lady, and even though food is technically my job, I certainly do not have the time or energy to cook every meal from scratch every day, which is why I try to focus on batch prepping several 'building blocks' to mix and match together throughout the week," she wrote.

Instead of preparing whole meals at a time, Sharp prefers to prepare ingredients that can be used for a variety of meals.

"So this might look like prepping pre-washing fruit, cutting up some veg, cooking up a pot of rice and prepping some protein," Sharp continued. "That way, when 5 p.m. rolls around and my family starts getting hangry, I can quickly assemble a few simple meals while keeping things diverse so they don't get bored of the same thing every day."

"So, I thought I would take you into my kitchen and show you some easy meal prep ideas using simple staples that will not only be easy on the wallet and your time, but will keep the whole family nourished and well fed," she concluded, directing her followers to her website. Earlier this month, the dietician-blogger called on her followers to "delete" dieting apps from their phones. She shared an Instagram Reel of herself dancing, with text over the video that read, "The feeling you get when you vow to stop dieting and learn to respect your body even without weight loss," followed by, "MyFitnessPal reminding me to log lunch."

"Delete," she wrote as a simple caption for the post.

Sharp's post was quickly met with thanks from fans for the "helpful tip."

"This is actually such a helpful tip lol. Keeping a diet app on my phone serves no purpose but to make me feel horrible about myself lol," one person wrote, while another commented, "Been there. Over it, and I won't go back again!"

"Literally just now deleted the app. My postpartum and post-op body and mind do not need that negativity," another Instagram user shared.

"Relatable," someone else added.

One person penned: "Love this. Thank you for sharing!"
