Canadian NHLer Carter Verhaeghe proposes to girlfriend in 'magical' beachside setting
The Florida Panthers player and his girlfriend, Casey Engleson, got engaged earlier this month in a fairytale proposal.
Canadian NHL star Carter Verhaeghe is officially getting more serious with his girlfriend.
Earlier this week, the Florida Panthers centre and his new fiancée, Casey Engleson, announced the news of their engagement on Instagram with a carousel of stunning photos from the occasion.
Set by the beach with a mountainous backdrop, the couple was all smiles in an event — shot by Saint Lucia-based wedding photographer Alberta Henry — that left many people in amazement.
The post included snapshots from the proposal, including pictures of Verhaeghe on one knee holding a shining wedding ring, him putting the jewel-topped gold band on Engleson's finger and the couple sharing a romantic embrace along the water.
Verhaeghe wore an olive green polo shirt, blue skinny jeans and white sneakers for the proposal, while Engleson opted for a sleeveless orange bodycon dress.
"08.04.23," the couple captioned their joint post, alongside a red heart emoji, suggesting the date of the proposal.
Several people showed their admiration for the couple in the comments of their post, with many sharing their congratulations.
"Happy for you both!!" commented the Florida Panthers Instagram account.
"Still not over it. Love you guys so much," added Casey's relative, Katie Engleson.
"She got her ring, now let's see Swaggy get his at the end of the season!" someone shared.
"Omg, so freaking magical!! Cannot wait to get you married," someone else penned.
"Congratulations to one of the sweetest couples that my family and I had the honour to meet!!" one person wrote.
Throughout their relationship, Engleson has often taken to social media to share tender moments from her and her now-fiancé's lives.
In the past year, the model-turned-real estate agent has shared sweet photos of her and her Waterdown, Ont.-born beau attending a black-tie event last summer and Christmas morning with their dog, Henry.
Last July, the duo took a weekend trip to Muskoka, Ont., which has been a summer getaway spot for celebrities like Cindy Crawford, Simu Liu as well as David and Victoria Beckham.
"Perfect weekend in Canada," Engleson captioned that post, along with a white heart emoji.
Fans showed their love for Verhaeghe and Engleson in the post's comments, with many noting the beauty of the couple.
