Why do we care how worn Chelsea Clinton's shoes look?

Chelsea Clinton was recently given flack for wearing a pair of “destroyed” nude heels to the Gordon Parks Foundation Awards dinner on Tuesday night.

Never mind the fact that the former first daughter’s book “She Persisted,” is no. 4 on Amazon’s best sellers children’s books list, and looking as if it might outsell Ivanka Trump’s “Women who Work,” — some critics primarily chose to focus on her footwear.

“No wonder they’re shredded!” screamed a headline on the Daily Mail. “Chelsea Clinton sticks with her favourite pair of frayed nude heels AGAIN as she steps out solo in New York for awards dinner.”

The 35-year-old paired a silver-black tweed boucle jacket over her black fitted dress as she chatted with singer-songwriter Usher Raymond and his son at the dinner. But, clutch your invisible pearls, the article stated she wore a “skirt with a frayed hem to the event,” too.

On Tuesday night, Clinton was spotted in a chic navy blue pantsuit and peach shirt while hailing a cab in front of her multi-million dollar apartment, but the article states that “those same damaged pumps with a chunk of missing resin exposing the steel heel in the shoe,” threw off her otherwise “near-flawless” look.

Clinton was been spotted at other events this past year donning the heels, including the Democratic National Convention last summer.

A recent Allure article perhaps defends Clinton best, suggesting that the reason her shoes are so “damaged” is because the working mom is busy “getting shit done.” Chelsea, and her supporters, couldn’t agree more — and by the way, she’s still proudly wearing the same shoes:
