Claire Danes Took Golden Goddess Literally on Emmys Red Carpet

Remember when Angela Chase was the pale, awkward everygirl of the ’90s? Claire Danes was not that girl at the 2016 Emmy Awards, where she was nominated for Best Actress in a Drama for Homeland. In fact, the excessive amount of tanning (or, more likely, spray-tanning) she did for the evening may have made her the exact opposite of that girl.

“We went for subtlety today,” Danes joked with E!’s Giuliana Rancic. Unfortunately, though her gold Schiaparelli dress was stunning, the Twitterverse was not amazed by her skin tone. Almost immediately, onlookers began with the jokes about the orange cast to her skin.

“#ClaireDanes was attacked by a tanning machine!!” tweeted Perez Hilton.
A commenter on New York magazine’s The Cut wasn’t much kinder. “Claire Danes is giving the Crispy Colonel a run for his money. I want to give her aloe.”
