It's been confirmed, Simone Bellotti is going to Jil Sander
Jil Sander and parent group OTB announced today that designer Simone Bellotti will be joining Jil Sander as creative director. The announcement follows the departure of designers Luke and Lucie Meier just weeks ago. It was announced in January that Bellotti would be leaving Bally after a brief but critically acclaimed tenure there.
“I am incredibly honoured to join Jil Sander,” Bellotti said in a statement. The label, he added, is “a storied house that created a strong identity, and that has always had such a significant influence on the design community.”
Over the last two years, Bellotti reinvigorated the Swiss luxury brand Bally with imaginative, sharply defined, and covetable designs. He has been lauded for his smart and sculptural tailoring as well as his sense of play. Before joining Bally, Bellotti spent 16 years designing at Gucci, first under Frida Giannini and later with Alessandro Michele.
In his own statement, OTB Chairman Renzo Rossi said, “Simone embarks on this journey with extensive experience and a distinct talent.” He continued, “Over the time spent together we shared the strategic vision and mission for Jil Sander, the values of innovation and sophistication that make it an iconic and unique brand.”
If his tenure at Bally serves as any indication, Bellotti will be exciting to watch at Jil Sander.
