Costco has been in the news quite a bit this last year for making big changes to the warehouse store: The brand finally raised membership prices after years of speculation, then required members to scan their membership cards at the entrance, and even limited food court access to members only. And that's not the only divisive change that's come to the food court this year.

Earlier this year Costco swapped out its churros for warm cookies and switched from strawberry ice cream cups to chocolate ones. Some fans love the new products, while others spoke out in protest. Now, we’re hearing that another huge change may be coming to the low-cost dining destination.

Costco May Be Switching to Coca-Cola Products

For more than a decade, we’ve made it a ritual to head to Costco to do some shopping, then pick up a hot dog and a Pepsi for $1.50, but that could be changing. Don’t worry: The price isn’t going up.

Instead, the hot dog pairing could be transforming from a Pepsi product to one from Coca-Cola. According to the Instagram account Costco Insider, the stores may be turning back to Coke products in its food courts next year. For some, it’s a long-awaited return to form—Costco served Coca-Cola products in its food courts until 2013 when it switched to Pepsi.

Costco Insider wrote, “After a standoff where Costco pulled all Coke products for a month, Coke lowered their prices, allowing Costco to switch back in early 2025. Coke’s focus on machine quality and partnership with Costco are likely driving the change.”

The machine quality has been a complaint from customers ever since Costco made the switch to Pepsi. On Reddit, posters are hopeful this change could lead to upgraded soda dispensers.

“Hope this means they get new fountain dispensers," one Redditer posted. "Ever since they switched to Pepsi, two out of three of the dispensers shoot out 50% syrup 50% flat non carbonated water."

“I could deal with it if they were kept calibrated. Every time I go it’s too syrupy or light to the point it tastes like water,” said another.

But overall, this announcement have left fans divided. “Thank goodness. Sorry Pepsi, but Coke products taste better,” said one popular comment on the Instagram post. While another declared, “It’s a sad day.”

We reached out to Costco for comment and to confirm the news, but hadn't heard back at the time of publication. Overall, it seemed that Coke devotees excited for the return slightly outnumbered Pepsi fans who were disappointed, so hopefully this rumor turns out to be true.
