Cruel Intentions TV Series Cast: Everyone You Need To Know
With the imminent release of the TV adaptation of Cruel Intentions, due to air on November 21 on Amazon Prime Video, fans of the 1999 film will finally be able to see how the remake has added new storylines, characters, themes and locations to the much loved cult classic.
The remake will see a whole host of new actors take on the roles that made Ryan Phillippe, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Reese Witherspoon go from breakout stars to household names. Plus, there’s even some familiar faces making cameos.
25 years after the film's first release, it's expected that the TV adaptation will have a 'modern-day' take on the themes and plot of the original film. This new series is set in Manchester College, a Washington, D.C.-adjacent university. As the synopsis says, this is 'where reputation means everything, fraternities and sororities are the gold standard, and two ruthless step-siblings, Caroline Merteuil and Lucien Belmont, will do anything to stay on top of the cutthroat social hierarchy.'
'After a brutal hazing incident threatens the entire Greek Life system, they’ll do whatever is necessary to preserve their power and reputation – even if that means seducing Annie Grover, the daughter of the Vice President of the United States. Hearts will be broken, loyalties will be tested, and secrets will be revealed in this modern-day royal court that is Manchester College.'

Sarah Catherine Hook as Caroline Merteuil
In the reboot, Sarah Catherine Hook stars as Caroline Merteuil. The role was initially played by Sarah Michelle Gellar. Her character was called Kathryn as opposed to Caroline.
Similar to Gellar's role, Hook is set to play the intelligent and manipulative stepsister to Lucien, who often uses her sexuality, money and influence to gain power and maintain her reputation. Will her cocaine-filled necklace remain a prop? Let's see.
Prior to starring in Cruel Intentions, Hook has acted in the following: Monsterland (2020), American Crime Story (2021), The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021) and First Kill (2022).
Zac Burgess as Lucien Belmont
In Cruel Intentions, Burgess stars as Lucien Belmont, Caroline's stepbrother, who was formerly known as Sebastian Valmont in the original adaptation. Similar to the film, his character is still a charming player, who regularly manipulates and seduces women, until he meets new girl Annie.
During an interivew with Us Weekly, Burgess admitted that he hadn't seen the 1999 film. 'I didn’t want to replicate Ryan’s performance because it is a cult classic and he did such a wonderful job the first time. It’s a new chapter to the series.'
Previously, Burgess has starred in One Night (2023), Totally Completely Fine (2023), Boy Swallows Universe (2024).
Savannah Lee Smith as Annie Grover
Another character making a comeback with a twist is Annette Hargrove, who was initially played by Reese Witherspoon. Now called Annie Grover and played by Savannah Lee Smith, Caroline and Lucien plot to use Annie to save their reputations after a hazing incident goes wrong.
Smith is no stranger to remakes – from 2021 to 2023, she starred in the Gossip Girl adaptation as Monet De Haan. Previously, she starred in the main role in Drunk, Drive, and 17 (2023) and is set to star in the upcoming film called Something Here.
Sara Silva as CeCe Carroway
Silva plays CeCe Carroway, who was called Cecile Caldwell and portrayed by Selma Blair in the film. In the TV series, Silva's character is quite childish and naive, compared to other characters like Caroline and Lucien – who subsequently take advantage of that to shocking results.
Another rising star, Silva has featured in a number of major TV shows and films such as American Horror Stories (2022), Grown-ish (2022) and The Boys (2022).
John Harlan Kim as Blaise Powell
While much hasn't been revealed of John Harlan Kim's role as Blaise Powell, it's expected that he will make up part of the main cast's entourage in some way within the series.
Since 2010, the Australian actor has played a variety of roles, including Neighbours (2009-11), Pandora (2019-20), Nancy Drew (2021-22), 9-1-1 (2020-23), The Last Thing He Told Me (2023) and White Fever (2024).
Khobe Clark as Scott Russell
One of the entirely new roles that have been added to the Cruel Intentions reboot is Scott Russell, who is played by Khobe Clark.
While speaking to Us Weekly, Clark shared his thoughts about coming into the remake as a new character.
'It would've been interesting to play one of the characters from the original movie because it’s always fun to see what new ways you can take a stab at something that's already been done so well. But I liked not having anything to stay loyal to.'
Besides Cruel Intentions, Clark has starred in a number of TV shows and films including Rocketman: The Donnie Rocket Story (2021), An Amish Sin (2022), Yellowjackets (2021-2023), Firefly Lane (2023) and V.C. Andrews' Dawn (2023).
Sean Patrick Thomas as Professor Hank Chadwick
Sean Patrick Thomas is one the few actors from the original film to reappear in the series. In the 1999 film he played Ronald Clifford, a young music teacher. This time round, Thomas will star as a teacher once again, as Professor Hank Chadwick.
Since the mid 1990s, Thomas has starred in a number of notable films and TV shows including the likes of Save The Last Dance (2001), Barbershop (2002), Barbershop 2: Back In Business (2004), Barbershop: The Next Cut (2016), The District (2000-04) and Vixen (2015-16).
Brooke Lena Johnson as Beatrice Worth
Another new addition to the Cruel Intentions series is Brooke Lena Johnson as Beatrice Worth, a college student who leads protests against sororities and fraternities, positioning her as a clear enemy of Caroline and Lucien.
Most recently, Johnson has starred in You (2019), South Of Hell (2015) and Spooked (2011).
