Curvy model Sonny Turner’s plea to Instagram: Eliminate 'fat girl' hate

Sonny Turner may be considered a “curvy” model, but she loves her body.

The 5’10” stunner recently sent out a strong plea to her nearly 100,000 Instagram followers: “STOP FAT PHOBIA.” Because when it comes down to it, being called “fat” doesn’t bother the 19-year-old one bit.

“How cute are my flabs and rolls tho?” the blogger, who was signed by Milk Management’s Curve division, famous for bringing other plus-size models like as Tess Holiday to the forefront, begins her post.

Sonny said she’s constantly told that she’s “not even that fat,” as though being called fat offends her.

“As if being fat is something to be ashamed about,” she continues her post. “As if being fat is the WORST THING THAT COULD HAPPEN TO A PERSON. no. There are 100 other things in this world to be worrying about than my size. My size doesn’t define me as a person. And neither does my body image.”

“STOP FAT PHOBIA. ELIMINATE FAT HATE. ELIMINATE FAT GIRL HATE,” she concludes.

The outspoken model regularly promotes body positivity and posts snaps of her modelling work, including shots from Aerie’s latest campaign, to Instagram. She has a larger than life personality and isn’t afraid to speak out about how she may not fit societal standards — but, according to a recent post, she still has plans “to destroy sexism, racism, hegemonic masculinity, homophobia, fat phobia, fascis, and poverty.”

And she won’t take no for an answer.

“It’s getting closer to that time of year if like me, you don’t fit societies ‘summer body’ standard, then you start to feel SH*T about yourself,” she wrote, before admitting that she’s had many summer’s where she didn’t leave the house because of “fear of being labelled fat” or not being able to hide her rolls under a coat.

But she says this summer will be different.

“I’m going to try my best to stop the fat phobia and actually enjoy myself,” she stated. “Stop the labelling and stop making yourself feel like in order to be happy you have to change yourself. Everybody is a ‘summer body’. AND YOU ARE GOOD ENOUGH.”

Social media, what's good? I just wanna know why you make me feel like if I'm not posing with my legs apart in a thigh gap shape , my stomach isn't sucked in as flat and toned or my boobs aren't pushed up to the gods or my ass to thigh ratio isn't hourglass and perfect that you make me feel UGLY. I just wanna know why if I don't give off this Insta baddie persona on Instagram then it's been indoctrinated into me that boys won't find me attractive. Or I won't get thousands of likes. Or brands won't wanna send me free clothes because I don't photoshop or face tune myself to make myself look INHUMAN. I just wanna know why girls are chasing to look like and be like girls who themselves DONT EXIST. And probably don't look like that in real life either. I just wanna know why I feel ashamed of my body and feel the need to suck my stomach in 90% of the time. I just wanna know why back rolls and cellulite are deemed UGLY when almost everyone has them. No one in perfect. Don't let social media or Instagram 'baddies' fool you. I think we are all 'baddies' in our own way. And you are not ugly just because you don't have the body social media is praising or look like the girl in the magazine that the media is praising. Stop worshipping digitally enhanced images and allowing them to deter your own beauty. LOVE THY SELF FOR ALL YOUR GOOD AND 'BAD' BITS ???????????????????????????????????????????????????????? clap for yourself and be your own damn cheerleader. #everybodyisbeautiful

The model also questions why “back rolls and cellulite” are deemed ugly when almost everyone has them.

“No one in perfect. Don’t let social media or Instagram ‘baddies’ fool you. I think we are all ‘baddies’ in our own way,” she stated, advising that girls stop worshipping digitally enhanced images that allow them to deter from their own beauty.

“LOVE THY SELF FOR ALL YOUR GOOD AND ‘BAD’ BITS,” she concluded, before telling females to be their own cheerleaders.
