Dad Says He Took His Daughter Outside to Build a Snowman, but Halfway Through He Was 'Ready to Vomit'
"I was not prepared," the Texas man wrote in a Reddit post
As a winter storm blanketed many states that normally don't normally get much snow at all, one man’s decision to build a snowman with his young child didn't go as planned.
In a post on Reddit’s “Today I F—ed Up," the 33-year-old man, a Texas native, said that he decided to use the opportunity to build a snowman with his 6-year-old daughter.
“I thought this could be a good bonding experience and she absolutely loved it. So, I gathered up supplies (gummy bears, a carrot and a hat) and suited us up,” the man wrote.
However, he quickly realized that building a snowman is more labor-intensive than it seems.

“I was not prepared. This s--- is supposed to be fun," he wrote. "While little one had a blast, about halfway through building it, I was ready to vomit. Sweating under like 3 layers of clothes, exhausted, and even kiddo was worn out by the end."

Despite the toll it took on him, the man said that they “got it done” — and although the snowman “may be almost as lumpy and misshapen as I am,” he was happy to share the experience with his daughter.
However, he said that when he woke up the next morning, he was in a world of pain.
“The real fallout is today though. Everything hurts," he wrote. "I feel like I just started weightlifting. My legs and back are screaming, and little one is all sore too. Why did nobody tell us that snow was so much work?"

Many fellow Redditors could relate and applauded the man for braving through the pain to create long-lasting family memories.
“Welcome to the snowman builder's club, where the first rule is: everything will hurt tomorrow!" wrote one commenter.
They went on to share a few helpful tips, just in case Texas ended up getting more snow anytime soon. "Next time, it might be less of a workout with some strategic breaks, or just let the kiddo do all the heavy lifting while you supervise with a hot drink in hand," the commenter added. "Hang in there, and maybe keep a stash of ibuprofen for the next snow adventure!"
Meanwhile, another commenter suggested wearing multiple layers. "Take them off as you heat up," they wrote.

Still, others pointed out that while having a snow day once in a blue moon can yield to some unexpected pain, it's nothing compared with living somewhere that gets a lot of snow.
"Now imagine having to do it multiple times a week for 6 months of the year," they wrote. "If you are having a hard time imagining it, live in Canada or Alaska and you don't have to use your imagination."
