'Degrassi' co-stars Shenae Grimes-Beech, Cassie Steele recreate 2006 photo: 'Iconic'
The Canadian actresses gave fans a nostalgic throwback from their time on the teen drama in the 2000s.
"Degrassi" fans are in for a nostalgic treat.
On Tuesday, Canadian actresses Shenae Grimes-Beech and Cassie Steele posted an Instagram Reel of themselves recreating a photo that aired on the teen drama in the mid 2000s.
In the clip, the duo prepared to pose on a white trunk — with Grimes-Beech sitting behind Steele — as "I'm Just a Kid" by Simple Plan played in the background. Grimes-Beech then provocatively pulled back Steele's cream-coloured shirt, mimicking the pose of their "Degrassi: The Next Generation" characters.
A photo from the show's season 6 episode, "Eyes Without a Face, Pt. 1," which originally aired on Nov. 9, 2006, then appeared in the video, featuring their characters Darcy Edwards (Grimes-Beech) and Manny Santos (Steele).
"Twenty years later and you can't even tell the difference... right?! After we made the video, we were like d—, we don't look half bad for 20-years-older! Then my four-year-old daughter proceeded to ask me, 'Which one are you, mummy?' Perhaps I do look just a little different than my 14-year-old self after all," Grimes-Beech, now 33, quipped in her caption for the post, adding "#degrassiforever" at the end.
Fans were over the moon in the comments section of the post, with many reflecting on their younger years watching the Canadian TV show.
"OMG, iconic," shared Ontario-based influencer Birds Papaya.
"Is this my sign to take out the 'Degrassi' DVDs and binge watch? Yes, yes it is," a fan wrote.
"Instant serotonin," another penned.
"My middle school heart can't handle!" one person raved.
"Miss those 'Degrassi' days!" someone replied.
"Stooop, OMG. Literally, I can hear the effort of my pregnant a— hoisting my leg over. Dead," Steele joked in her own comment on the post.
Earlier this week, Steele stunned her Instagram fans with another post revealing that she was pregnant.
While the Toronto-born actress, 33, showed fans on TikTok back in May that she was a soon-to-be mom, her other followers who missed the news showed their excitement for the star.
"OMG, all of the 'Degrassi' kids are having babies, congratulations! You're gonna be a great momma!" one person penned.
"Look at that beautiful belly! Congrats, love!" shared another.
"You have that glow," someone chimed in, along with some heart-eye emojis. "Congratulations, and here's to a safe and healthy pregnancy journey for you!"
"Wow, you look elegant!" someone else wrote.
"OMG, you are a vision," a fan raved. "Pregnancy is so beautiful on you."
