Demi Lovato Is Sure That She'll Adopt Someday

Demi Lovato wants to be a mom and says that she's sure that she'll adopt a child. During an appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience, Lovato said that she identifies as pansexual and that since she's not sure who she settles down with, she explained that adoption was the only way she could have a child.

"In this moment, I want to adopt [children] for sure," she told host Joe Rogan. "I also don't know if I'm going to end up with a guy, so I can't really see myself even getting pregnant."

When Rogan asked her to clarify what pansexual meant to her and whether or not she was sexually attracted to both men and women, she said yes, adding that she was pansexual and that, for her, it meant that she was interested in "anything, really."

"I'm so fluid now, and a part of the reason why I am so fluid is because I was super closeted off," she said. "I'm part of the alphabet mafia and proud. Why can't we just say queer, y'all? Nah, I'm just kidding."

She also told Rogan that she actually thought that she could be pregnant this year after getting engaged (and un-engaged). And instead of dwelling on what could have been, she says that she's embraced the fact that her life isn't following any specific plan anymore.

"I was engaged to a man last year. I totally thought I'd be married, maybe pregnant right now, and that's not the case," she said. "So I've just stopped kind of attaching myself to — I know that my life is not going according to my plan."

In the past, Lovato has opened up about her sexuality. Recently, she said that she was "too queer" to be with a cis man at the moment. And before that, in late 2020, she shared that the film Cruel Intentions made her realize that she was queer.

"It was definitely when I was young and should not have been watching Cruel Intentions, but I did, and it was that scene where they made out on the park lawn," Lovato said of seeing Sarah Michelle Gellar and Selma Blair. "I was just like, 'Oh, wait a minute. I really like that.' I was like, 'I want to try it!'"
