When it comes to exfoliants, there are plenty on the market, but one definitely stands out among the competition. The Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant Exfoliator has earned a cult-status in the beauty community, and has been praised for its efficacy.

With a gentle rice-based powder exfoliant that helps to brighten and improve the look of skin‘s texture, this unique exfoliant is unlike any other. The powder-based formula is activated as soon as you mix it with a few drops of water, transforming it into a creamy paste.

This exfoliant is ideal if you're looking to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, target uneven skin tone, and hyper-pigmentation, or calm the look of redness. After hearing all the rave reviews, I knew I had to try this exfoliant for myself.

First impressions

As someone who has always used gel exfoliants and scrubs, I found that this powder version was a refreshing and effective alternative. It's not at all harsh on the skin, and the smoothness after washing makes this exfoliator worth every penny, especially since it removes makeup and cleanses the skin all at once.

According to the product recommendations, you just need a dollop of the powder to rinse the whole face. Unfortunately, the spout at the top is a little too big and allows more product than is needed to be poured out. Not only is this excess product a waste, if I haven't used enough water to dissolve the powder properly, I also find bits of powder residue on my face.

What are reviewers saying?

Sephora shoppers have given this product a 4.6-star rating from more than 1,600 customer reviews, and more than 54,000 "loves."

"This product works beautiful on my dry, flaky, sensitive as well as acne prone skin," shared one reviewer. "I find it very hard to stumble upon products that hydrate as well as help alleviate my acne, but using this exfoliator every third day has done the trick!"

Another user wrote: "Skin feels so soft and smooth. After several weeks I noticed that my skin cleared up and stayed clear. It feels like I’m rubbing milk powder until I get a foam going and then it’s milky smooth sailing. It’s great that there’s no micro-breads and that it’s all natural."

Like me, another reviewer also felt this product can pour too much, writing, "[I] noticed a difference after just one use. Skin is definitely softer. The only reason why I gave it 4 stars is that sometimes the powder drops too quickly and there’s too much."

Verdict

This cleanser is super effective as the skin feels smooth as silk after just one use. The fact that there are no micro-exfoliating beads and the formula is all natural is all the more reason to add it to your skincare routine. After several weeks of daily use, my skin looked and felt brighter and smoother. As someone with dry skin, this exfoliator doesn't dry the skin, but instead gives a neat glow.

I'd say if you want to invest in a product that's worth a splurge, the Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant Exfoliator is definitely it.
