Did Taylor Swift’s embellished little black dress send a secret message?
Taylor Swift enjoyed a special Friday night out in New York City, but it wasn’t Travis Kelce on her arm this time around.
As the pop star booked a table at Nobu Downtown, where she was photographed with her parents, Andrea and Scott Kingsley Swift, as well as her friend, the stylist and designer Ashley Avignone. For the occasion, they each opted for classic city style (also known as all-black outfits).
Swift, for her part, slipped into an ensemble becoming of her Reputation era. Up top, she wore a black cropped jacket cinched together by silver chain details, and below, she slipped into a matching mini skirt. While the Area set was definitely less colourful than her usual date-night style, its glittering details still fit right in with the singer’s luxe accessories.

The Fortnight singer carried a diamond frame clutch bag from Jimmy Choo, letting the purse’s delicate chain strap dangle off her forearm. She paired the black leather bag with a pair of slouchy, thigh-high leather Chloé boots, and underneath, wore sheer, diamond-patterned tights.

In her signature style, Swift incorporated some elegant jewellery into her ensemble. A pair of Chanel pendant logo earrings were visible from underneath her blonde blow-dry, lending their gold and diamante embellishments to her sophisticated look.
The singer naturally wore her staple red lipstick with winged black eyeliner, while an iridescent eyeshadow brought some extra drama to her look. Her nails were also painted an unusually dark burgundy shade — perhaps a nod to the seasonal palette, or that of her Reputation album.
