Disney World Shuts Down After Dangerous Sighting At Magic Kingdom

When visiting your favorite theme park, long wait times and sudden ride closures can be an expected obstacle. But for park-goers at Disney World's Magic Kingdom on Monday, they likely had no idea that the interruptions they experienced would be caused by a lone black bear.

NBC News reports that parts of Florida's Magic Kingdom were temporarily closed on Mondaytod after a black bear was spotted. Those specific attractions included Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Hall of Presidents, Liberty Square Riverboat, A Pirate’s Adventure, Tom Sawyer Island, and the Walt Disney World Railroad (including Fantasyland, Frontierland, and Main Street).

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) confirmed that the bear had been spotted in a tree at Magic Kingdom, and noted that they were working to capture and relocate the animal. The bear has since been captured and relocated to an area near the Ocala National Forest.

“In most cases, it is best for bears to be given space and to move along on their own, but given the situation, staff are working on capturing and relocating the bear,” the agency shared with NBC News.

The FWC added that the bear was likely in search of food before hibernation season, which takes place between late December and late March.

Ironically, this doesn't serve as the only bizarre bear sighting to take place this month. In Alaska, a mama bear and her cubs reportedly tore through 20 packages of donut holes and six packs of chocolate donuts when a Krispy Kreme driver left their van unattended.

Well, in this case we can't say we blame 'em.
