I Don't Get Football, But I DO Get Buffalo Chicken–These Are The Super Bowl Foods I'm Looking Forward To

Super Bowl Party Foods For Football Haters PHOTO: RACHEL VANNI; FOOD STYLING: BROOKE CAISON

I love big events and holidays, but I gotta admit, the Super Bowl is a tricky one. I’m all for a party, but a party where everyone just sits around and watches…football?!? I can’t be the only person out there who just doesn’t get it. Like, what does threepeat* mean? What in TF is a tush push? What does Taylor Swift’s boyfriend even do out there? 😂 That said, I’ll be first to offer to host or show up on game day, for one reason alone: the FOOD. From dips to buffalo chicken-everything to sliders, there are some foods you just can’t make for anything less than a crowd, and I’m not missing a single bite.

I’m not saying it’s not possible to make yourself a batch of spinach artichoke dip and eat it all to yourself, but we can all admit that it’s nicer to share, not in the least because it means you can also fill your plate with Hawaiian roll sliders, loaded potato skins, jalapeño poppers, a hunk of chili-stuffed cornbread, some pigs in a quilt (blankets are so over), a jar of tailgate tots, all seven layers of 7-layer dip…phew! Bring on the game, I am SO ready.

I’ve only included 15 of Delish’s top recipes here, but the list could go on and on. Want even more inspiration? We’ve got you covered with over 100 (!!) Super Bowl recipes that’ll guarantee an incredible game day, even if you don't care who wins or loses. Craving something sweet? I can't throw a pigskin, but I sure can demolish a football-shaped brownie or two. Check out our Super Bowl desserts for even more ideas.

*(Editor’s Note: I just learned it’s a portmanteau of "three" and "repeat", and ngl, I actually kind of love it?)

Best-Ever 7-Layer Dip

This truly has everything we could ever want in a dip: refried beans, homemade guacamole, salsa, sour cream, and cheese (😍) all topped with fresh veggies for an added crunch. You'll never buy the store-bought version again after trying this homemade dip.

Hawaiian Roll Sliders

If you love sliders, these ones are TOPS. In them, ham, Swiss, and jammy caramelized onions are layered between the star of the show: Hawaiian rolls. They're also SO easy: simply split the rolls, layer them, bake, and in a little over 10 minutes, you'll have a dozen hot mind-blowing sandwiches ready to serve.

4-Way Dip

The best thing about the Super Bowl is all the dips, but how do you choose? This dip means you don't have to. Combining our four favorite dips of Buffalo chicken, spinach artichoke, jalapeño popper, and pizza dip, this dip has something for everyone. Your game day spread just got infinitely better.

Snickers Puppy Chow

I'm obsessed with muddy buddies (also known as puppy chow.), but since one recipe makes 9 cups worth, I'm not making them for just myself. Game day, though? That's the perfect occasion. Make them as is, or go extra big and add chopped candy like we did here.

Nachos

Simple, classic, and endlessly versatile, nachos are a staple appetizer here at Delish. This best recipe is loaded with nachos supreme-inspired toppings—melty cheese, ground beef, two types of beans, and pickled jalapeños to name a few—but feel free to use this as a jumping-off point to add all your favorites.

Blooming Quesadilla Ring

You could just make regular chicken quesadillas, but why would you when a BLOOMING QUESADILLA RING is available? Buffalo chicken makes it extra perfect for game day, but you could probably get creative and swap in your favorite dip here too. Just make sure to keep the cheese!

Chili-Stuffed Cornbread

Cheesy chili-stuffed cornbread is what happens when cornbread gets tired of being a sidekick and decides to break into a leading role. It’s hearty, a little messy, and unapologetically extra, the kind of dish that makes you wonder why you ever settled for plain cornbread in the first place.

Fried Chicken Wings

While we love our baked buffalo wings, fried wings satisfy that craving for a salty, crunchy bite made for dipping (or tossing) in your favorite sauce. Serve these at your Super Bowl party with an array of your favorite wing sauces so everyone can customize these crispy-yet-moist wings.

Tailgate Tots

If you’re looking for the cutest (and easiest) Super Bowl snack, look no further than these tailgate tots. See—they even sound cute! Make this tailgate food for yourself, or assemble a bunch for a crowd—you can't go wrong!

Buffalo Chicken Dip

I'll be happy with Buffalo chicken anything, but this dip will forever be an all-time favorite. Whether it's served with a plate of carrot and celery sticks or just an open bag of tortilla chips, it's THE recipe I look forward to the most on a Super Bowl snack spread.

Loaded Potato Skins

You can't go wrong with potato skins, especially if they're fully loaded. We went with the classic loaded toppings—bacon, green onions, cheese, and sour cream—but don’t hesitate to set out a wide variety of toppings and fillings so everyone can customize!

Caramelized Onion Dip

With this recipe, we take the classic onion dip one step further by incorporating deeply caramelized onions into the mix. It takes a little longer than you might think (we’re talking at least one hour), but we promise it’s worth it.

Bacon-Wrapped Jalapeño Poppers

Jalapeño poppers aren't the kind of thing you're likely to make for yourself, but they're the easiest, most satisfying party app. Mix cream cheese with pepper Jack, stuff it in jalapeños, and wrap it all in bacon. In the oven, the cheese gets hot and melty and the peppers mellow slightly. The combination is PERFECT.

Spinach Artichoke Dip

Beer cheese, Buffalo chicken, and queso will always have a special place in my hearts, I also will always keep coming back to good ol' spinach & artichoke dip. Full of creamy, cheesy goodness, it really is the dip to end all dips.

Pigs In A Quilt

Look, pigs in a blanket are classic, but it’s time they get an upgrade. Here, we swap crescent dough wrapped around the hot dog with a quilt made with woven crescent dough. All you need is some hot dogs, classic crescent dough, and egg wash for a shiny golden finish and the most exceptional presentation.
