New downtown Bellingham restaurant coming to Granary Building announces opening date
Mercato delle Bonta, a new restaurant first announced in February, has set a date for its opening in downtown Bellingham’s Granary Building.
The “market of goodness” restaurant that will blend flavors from Italy, Greece and NYC will officially open its doors Sunday, June 30, according to an email from its owner, Julia Tzortzatos.
The restaurant was launched by Julia and her husband, Francesco Di Vito, who have both been chefs for years, and even competed together on Food Network’s “Cut Throat Kitchen” in 2017.
“Opening Mercato delle Bonta has been a vision my husband, Francesco, and I have had for a few years,” Tzortzatos told The Herald. “This is not our first business but it is our first time working together and our first brick and mortar. My husband was in the food industry in Italy; he managed an Italian restaurant when he moved to NY and most recently we had a food truck in NYC.”
The restaurant’s menu has yet to be announced but will include a deli, coffee, bread from a local bakery and a market section with a variety of products and take out items.
Mercato delle Bonta will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on its opening day on Sunday, June 30 at 1211 Granary Ave. in Bellingham.
