Nothing about 2020 has gone as planned, but there is nothing in the world that can stop the magic of Black women and girls.

While the annual Black Girls Rock! Black Girls Lead conference can't be held in-person this year, Emerge Haircare has partnered with the brand to create an unforgettable virtual event.

This year's conference will be a two-day affair, stretching from July 31 to Aug. 1, and is packed with an amazing line-up of panels, keynotes, workshops, and masterclasses featuring prominent Black women like Michelle Obama, Kamala Harris, Missy Elliot, MC Lyte, and many more.

"The Black Girls Lead conference is designed to help girls amplify their leadership skills, critical thinking, ingenuity, and creativity," Beverly Bond, founder and CEO of Black Girls Rock!, tells InStyle. "The message that I want to give the next generation of Black girl creatives is that they matter and they are enough. Their ideas and dreams are worthy of pursuing. Their talents and voices are needed to change this world. And there is a village of dynamic Black women who want to see the next generation win, thrive, and rock!"

While there's no replacement for the experience of an in-person event, Bond is grateful that the virtual component now makes the event more accessible for those who may not have been able to attend in the past.

"I think once COVID-19 clears, the online format will remain in addition to the live event," she says. "Hosting Black Girls Lead online has truly given us an opportunity to connect with more mentors, speakers, and young people."
