'Emily in Paris' Lucas Bravo Reveals He Wasn't Originally Cast As Gabriel
Lucas Bravo has revealed that he wasn't originally cast to be one of Emily in Paris' love interests. In fact, the actor, who has played Gabriel since the inaugural season of the hit Netflix show, has revealed that he was almost rejected from the show entirely.
Speaking to People, Bravo said that Paramount initially 'didn’t want to take a chance' on him because he 'didn’t have enough background.'

The budding actor, who until his casting in Emily in Paris had only appeared in independent productions, took the rejection hard and booked himself on a remote holiday to the French island of Corsica.
'I wanted to be in a place where there's no service,' he admitted to the outlet. 'I could just talk to birds, so to speak.'
What followed can be described as nothing less than serendipity in action. Located in a remote part of the island with little connectivity, when another lone vacationer asked to borrow Bravo's phone to make a call to his daughter, he walked away for forty minutes to find reception on the actor's phone before returning with news.
'He told me, "Your phone was vibrating left and right when I got service, so you should check it out,"' Bravo recalled. 'I was like, "No, no, no. I'm here to forget this Emily in Paris thing."'
The next morning, though, Bravo checked his '40 messages and 30 missed calls,' and found a pleasant surprise, noting, 'It was the casting director telling me, "Where are you?"'
And just like that, Bravo returned to Paris to read once again for Darren Star, the show's creator, Paramount producers, writers, and Lily Collins, Emily in Paris herself. 'It went super well,' he gushed. 'Lily is very generous. When you dive into her eyes, it's really easy to be connected to her.' And the rest, as they say, is history.
