Enclosure for endangered pigs opens at Jersey Zoo
A brand new home for critically-endangered pigs has opened to the public at Jersey Zoo.
Durrell Conservation Wildlife Trust said the new pig house for its four Visayan warty pigs opened on Valentines Day.
It said the pigs, which were once thought to be extinct, were still "one of the most threatened mammals on earth".
Rebecca Brewer, from the trust, said the new home will let visitors see the species up close.
She said: "After a two-month settling in period we are delighted to be able to welcome visitors to see Tré, Diosa, Babs and Penelope in their new home.
"This new house gives the pigs more outdoor space to roam, as well as providing more opportunity for our visitors to get up close with the species."
The Zoo also reopened its sloth enclosure following the birth of a two-toed sloth last month.
