The 'very English' reason why Prince George wore shorts to meet his baby brother
Prince George wore a pair of tailored shorts when he met his baby brother on Monday. The 4-year-old is typically seen wearing short pants during public appearances — and there’s a good reason for that.
“It’s a very English thing to to dress a young boy in shorts,” royal expert William Hanson told Harper’s Bazaar. “Trousers are for older boys and men, whereas shorts on young boys is one of those silent class markers.”

Apparently, a pair of trousers on a young boy is considered “middle class.”
“No self-respecting aristo or royal would want to be considered suburban — even the Duchess of Cambridge.”
Luckily, Prince George won’t have to wear shorts all his life, only until age 8 or 9, when he’ll
graduate to pants.
Princes William and Harry followed the same tradition, and George’s baby bother will likely
follow suit, too!
