Editors' Picks are the Fashionista team's true (#notspon) fashion and beauty obsessions, handpicked by professionals who see it all. Any beauty product you see here has been vetted and tested by the editor recommending it.

The very best home scents are those that make themselves known, asserting their presence enough to be remembered and even asked about by guests who have shared their air space. For me, Boy Smells' Hinoki Fantôme candle is the ultimate example. It's a staple in my home fragrance rotation, and I've shared the link with several friends who have complimented the fiery scent while visiting my apartment.

I first purchased it in December; during the colder months, it reminded me of nights gathered around a fireplace with a pot of simmering winter fruit and spices on the stove. (If you've never tried a simmer pot, you're seriously missing out.) It works great as an elevated holiday scent without being too on the nose, but now that summer bonfires are here again, the relaxing scent has surprised me by becoming my summer evening go-to, as well.

A heady blend of cardamom, jasmine, moss, guiac, resin and hinoki wood, Hinoki Fantôme is warm and woody, with faint layers of both floral and citrus that lighten it up a bit, making it perfect for year-round burning. I find it cozy, welcoming and comforting — and it's a reliable way to instantly elevate even the simplest night in. (It's also available as a perfume, starting at $98.)
