Pantone's 2025 color of the year is Mocha Mousse — here's how to incorporate it into your wardrobe
This rich, warm shade of brown is decadent, classic and wildly wearable.
It's official: The Pantone Color of the Year for 2025 is Mocha Mousse. The color experts at Pantone describe the shade as a "soft, warming brown" that captures "a global mood of connection, comfort and harmony." The hue is reminiscent of creamy coffee and milk chocolate, so naturally, it's a decadent, rich shade.

Mocha Mousse is a departure from the much bolder Colors of the Year that Pantone has selected lately. For the last four years, the title has gone to bright, vivid hues including Peach Fuzz (2024) and Viva Magenta (2023). According to the New York Times, Pantone hasn't chosen a shade of brown as its hero color in over two decades.
If you're interested in adding the Color of the Year to your wardrobe, there's good news: Mocha Mousse couldn't be more versatile or approachable. Beautiful on its own, it also pairs well with creams and soft taupes. But that doesn't mean you must keep your closet to neutral shades — Pantone notes that Mocha Mousse also shines next to floral hues like cornflower blue and rose. Whether you're after a full monochromatic look or want to add some subtle accessories to your rotation, the trending color is available at retailers like Quince, Old Navy and Madewell. Everyone needs a cozy turtleneck for the winter, and this 100% wool style from Quince is one of our favorites. It's moisture-wicking, odor-resistant and breathable, so you won't overheat. It's also a good base layer for any winter-weather look, and we love the subtle ribbing at the hem, collar and cuffs.
Need a new bag for the season? (Trick question — of course you do.) This crescent-shaped purse is an eye-catcher, but the unique design also makes it a comfortable shoulder or crossbody bag. Inside, there's plenty of space for your phone, wallet and lip balm with room to spare.
Mary Janes and ballet flats are back in a big way, and these flats strike a balance between the two timeless styles. Covered in supple suede and padded for all-day comfort, these square-toed shoes look just as great with jeans as they do a midi skirt.
Wildly soft and incredibly lightweight, these high-waisted leggings have four-way stretch and a moisture-wicking knit, so they'll keep you comfortable in a workout class ... or hanging out on your couch. Snag the matching bra for a sporty monochromatic look.
Top off your winter coat with this long, cozy scarf. The raw edges give it an organic feel. You might be surprised to see how well this goes with your existing sweater collection — wear it with light pastels for a chic, unexpected pairing.
How pretty is Mocha Mousse with pale pink? We're major Adidas fans, especially when the shoes are this classic. Comfortable with a little lift (check out the stacked platform), these sneakers can be worn all year round and are a welcome departure from basic white sneakers.
It's cardigan season! Add this cotton and cashmere blend to your wardrobe and thank yourself later. Wear it on its own or layer it over a tank top or tee — you really can't go wrong. With no branding and minimal details, it's a closet staple you'll reach for again and again.
