An Exclusive Sneak Peek of The Spanish Princess Previews Both Glamour and Danger for Catherine

From Town & Country

When we left Catherine of Aragon at the end of part one of Starz's The Spanish Princess, it seemed as though she had everything she could have wanted: a baby, a husband, and a seat on England's throne. But, when the series returns for part two on Sunday, anyone who has studied the Tudors knows that's not where her story ends.

"I love this second season. I think that it's really interesting because we get to play with knowing why the story is going to end," actress Charlotte Hope, who plays Catherine, tells Town & Country.

"And yet we kind of tease you that maybe it's going to be okay. It almost kind of feels a bit like a horror movie to me in that sense. We meet Catherine, and she's got her handsome husband. She's got her 6-month-old baby boy. And she's just living her best life to be honest. But also as a viewer, we know when she's holding that baby up and he's called Henry IX, we know that baby's going to die. So there's a real sense of foreboding, even in the total jubilation that I think is a really brilliant piece of storytelling—and it's really unnerving for the viewer."

That simultaneous sense of joy and foreboding plays out in the exclusive clip above, a sneak preview of the premiere of this Sunday's premiere of The Spanish Princess. In it, we see Catherine picking out her headpiece for her father's visit. "If my father is to visit, I will wear the most precious one," she says, picking up her jewelry. But at the close of the footage, Catherine is stopped by masked men, and forced down the hall.
