Fans are having a hard time saying goodbye to 'Big Bang Theory'

The series finale of The Big Bang Theory has come and gone and needless to say, fans are having a hard time saying goodbye to these beloved characters. In a surprising finale that was emotional for fans and characters alike, Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Amy (Mayim Bialik) won the Nobel Prize for Physics, and in his acceptance speech, Sheldon put aside his 90-minute self-centered speech to instead speak about the people in his life who are most important to him.

In a rare instance of heartfelt sincerity, Sheldon asked Leonard (Johnny Galecki), Penny (Kaley Cuoco), Bernadette (Melissa Rauch), Howard (Simon Helberg), and Raj (Kunal Nayyar) to stand, and said, “I apologize if I haven’t been the friend you deserve, but I want you to know, in my way, I love you all.”

But there was more to unpack before we got there. Turns out Penny and Leonard had a little secret. While the group was on the plane heading to Sweden so Sheldon and Amy could accept their medals, Sheldon became suspicious of Penny because how often she went to the bathroom. Sheldon believed Penny must have had some terrible infectious disease. Leonard assured Sheldon that what Penny had, he couldn’t catch. But still, Penny and Leonard decided to spill the beans.

“I’m pregnant, Sheldon,” Penny said. “You’re right, I can’t catch that,” Sheldon said to Leonard before walking away.

And after 12 wonderful years, there was one order of business that finally got wrapped up. As Sheldon was complaining to Leonard in the hall about everything changing, there was a ding before, to everyone’s surprise, the elevator door opened and there stood Penny.

“Can you believe it?” Penny asked. “They finally fixed the elevator.”
