For someone who has combination skin, it's a struggle to find foundations that are lightweight, won't cause patchy makeup, or make my T-zone extra shiny. On top of that, another struggle is finding the perfect shade as a person of colour, which is why I often avoid wearing foundation altogether.

The foundation aims to provide medium to full coverage with a soft matte finish that is resistant to sweat and humidity. Plus it won't clog pores, which is a huge plus for acne and blemish-prone skin like mine.
Considering the full-size product is a shopper favourite with more than 740,000 "loves" and 16,000 reviews on the Sephora website, I decided to put the Pro Filt’r Mini Soft Matte Longwear Foundation to the test.
I tend to avoid medium to full coverage foundations because my face usually feels too heavy by the end of the day, but I was truly amazed at how light-weight the liquid foundation was. I actually thought I was applying BB cream for a moment — when Fenty said it's as light-as-air, they weren't kidding.
The drawback with this foundation was that I did find it a bit drying because of the matte finish that also makes it harder to blend. The soft matte finish does give a nice look and it's great for daily wear. But if you're looking for a full glam look, you'll have to build the layers slowly so it doesn't look cakey.
I tried the shade 230 which is a light-medium with neutral undertones. The colour shade I selected matched well, and what I really loved was that it covered my blemishes and scars. Though it is full coverage, it still felt like I was barely wearing anything.
I purposely stepped out when it was bright and sunny because I wanted to make sure the foundation would pass the sweat and humidity test—and it did. It stayed put on my face, did not melt off or feel gross in the warm weather.
What Sephora shoppers are saying
One user who gave the foundation a 5-star rating said "this the only foundation" they have been using for two years now. They love that it "it doesn’t leave them shiny, clog pores, covers blemishes, and doesn’t look cakey."
Another shopper raved they love the foundation, and were happy about the new mini version because they use different foundations on different days.
"This one is perfect! It’s buildable, and really melts into the skin...It kept my face matte for 9 hours with no oil breakup in my T-zone," they said. "Highly recommend, will be repurchasing!"
Some reviewers with sensitive skin noticed irritated skin after using the product but one user said "irritations weren't too bad. A pretty good foundation otherwise."
Consider this just another reason that it's important to do a patch test before trying any new makeup or skincare product.
If you wear foundation daily, the mini version of this top-rated foundation is likely not worth purchasing. It's not going to last you a very long time, so it's best to invest in the full-size product as the mini only offers 12 mL of product. But, for frequent travellers or those who don't wear foundation daily, the mini is a great affordable option.
Although I wish it was more hydrating and easier to blend in, I would still recommend giving the Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation (mini or full-size) a shot because of its surprisingly lightweight blend and coverage. My face didn't feel heavy and gross by the end of the day due to the lightweight blend, and it was also very easy to remove with my oil cleanser at the end of the day.
