The First Wicked Movie Trailer Debuted During the Super Bowl: Watch It Here

The first Wicked movie trailer—or at least part one—is finally here after just a few sneak peeks and first looks (squint and maybe you can see Ariana Grande in this photo).

At the very beginning of the 2024 Super Bowl, viewers were treated to a real, full-length trailer, featuring actual words (!), music (!!), and belting (!!!) courtesy of Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Bowen Yang, Michelle Yeoh, and the rest of the star-studded cast.

Watch the first official Wicked movie trailer here:

To celebrate the trailer, Grande and Erivo showed up to the game wearing custom sequin tops with their characters’ names on them:

Based on the long-running Broadway musical—which originally starred Kristin Chenoweth and Idina MenzelWicked is a prequel to The Wizard of Oz focusing on the unlikely friendship between prissy Galinda (Grande) and the very green, very misunderstood Elphaba (Erivo), before they became the respective “good” and “wicked” witches we know from Oz. The original Broadway production—which opened in 20023—scored three Tony Awards, seven Drama Desk Awards, and a Grammy Award for its original cast recording.

The films are directed by Jon M. Chu, with the part one arriving in theaters November 24, 2024, and part two in theaters November 26, 2025.
