Fitness Trainer's Love Letter to Her Butt Dimple Is a Powerful Must-Read
While Victoria Dariano may be a fitness trainer, that doesn't mean she's immune to those same moments of self-consciousness as you. But now, she's learning how to disregard those negative emotions and how to embrace her butt dimple once and for all, as she wrote in a powerful Instagram love letter. And it's a lesson we could all use more of in our lives.
She wrote, "Dear Butt Dimple, I remember the first day you appeared. I was 15 years old. Since then you have had a hugely negative impact on my life. Since then you have made me feel less about myself. You not only made me feel fat, but also unworthy."
Dariano added how her butt dimple always impacted what she wore and how she acted, as a way to hide her flaws. She tried just about everything she could think of to try to get rid of her dimple, but it never went away.
"I remember endless hours of looking at you in the mirror, squeezing you and wondering why I had you. I remember crying of embarrassment as other girls I was friends with didn't have you," Dariano continued. "You took a lot of joy away from me, you caused a lot of stress for me, you made me insecure and took away my confidence."
After all that self-consciousness over her mark, she's recently decided to stand up and say "f--k the dimple," loud and proud to the world, because one little dimple shouldn't stop her from living her life (and wearing her favorite leggings and swimsuits!).
"I am writing you today to tell you I have finally stopped letting you win. You will no longer make me feel unworthy, not good enough or not in shape because of you. I will no longer be afraid to wear certain bathing suits or leggings because of you. I will no longer hide you. You are what you are and I have finally come to peace with that. I have finally accepted you," she wrote.
Her post has since gone viral, with over 27,000 likes and over a 1,000 comments, many praising Dariano for her honesty. "I'm on my own journey to get fit and have also struggled with major mental health issues and I like what you're doing to work with all of that," one person wrote.
You heard her, own your body!
