Raise your hand if you've ever put off switching your bedding because of the dreaded fitted sheet. Us too. It always seems to take multiple failed attempts to figure out which side is the long one and don't even get us started on the frustration that is picking the wrong direction and having the corner snap up in your face.

Well, thanks to Reddit, your sheet game is about to change forever. According to user Nolapatrona, the corner with the tag always goes on the bottom right side of your mattress. What?!

For reference, this is what the tag should look like and this is the corner of the bed that the tag should go on.

Another pro tip from Reddit user Overthemoon64: just buy striped sheets. Once you know the direction they're supposed to run in, it's impossible to mistake which side of the sheet is the long one. Another user points out that to avoid wear and tear, you should rotate your sheets and sometimes put the tag in the top left corner of your mattress.

And since putting the fitted sheet on your bed will now be a simple and easy task, it's time to start caring for your bedding and washing it on the regular. "The longest you should wait before changing out your sheets is two weeks," says Carolyn Forte, director of the Cleaning Lab at the Good Housekeeping Institute. "Weekly is even better." This will ensure you wash out the germs, sweat and body oils your sheets accumulate every night in your sleep.

Now learn how to fold a fitted sheet - the other annoying experience one must conquer with this everyday item:
