There's a new Ziegler in the voice acting game. Former Dance Moms star Mackenzie Ziegler (younger sister to Maddie Ziegler) is voicing the lead role of Lily in the new animated film Ice Princess Lily. In a video shared exclusively with Woman's Day, the youngest Ziegler opens up about this new chapter of her career and what she thinks makes this movie so special.

Ice Princess Lily will be on DIRECTV on Nov. 21 before hitting select theaters on Dec. 27. It follows an ice princess (named Lily, of course) who teams up with a dragon to defeat an evil snowman who wants to eradicate the dragons and freeze the planet. It's the first voice acting role the 15-year-old has had, and it wasn't the easiest swap.

"[Voice acting is] different than acting because you don't have an actor to react back to … so I thought this was pretty hard," Ziegler says in the behind-the-scenes video. "But I actually had so much fun with it and it was cool playing a different character."

Ziegler had to channel lots of roles in her different performances on Dance Moms, but this is the first time she's really putting her voice first instead of her face and dance moves. She also had to sing in the film, which Mackenzie said she was "so happy" to do. The young dancer added singing to her talent repertoire while she was still on Dance Moms. Over the years, she's released two albums called Mack Z and Phases, as well as several singles.

In addition to dancing, singing, voice acting, Ziegler has also regular acted since leaving Dance Moms after season six. She's appeared in the TV shows Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn and Total Eclipse as well as several video shorts. But she didn't always have the confidence needed to tackle these kinds of projects.

"When I was younger, I did not have any confidence whatsoever," she says in the behind-the-scenes video for Ice Princess Lily. "But I definitely built it up because I believed in myself, and my sister helped me with that so much," she says, giving her Maddie a little shout out.

Ziegler adds in the video that she's always really loved animated movies, which made her role in Ice Princess Lily that much more special. Plus, she says that the film's messaging really appealed to her. "Since we're in this generation where there's social media and a lot of bullying and kids like to bring each other down ... I think it's really important that girls and boys just come together and support one another," she says. "I hope people watch this movie and realize that us, as people, we are all more alike than different, and we should all come together and support one another."

With such an inspiring plot and a chance to hear Ziegler voice act and sing, Ice Princess Lily will be a must-watch film for families this winter. Get a sneak peek at what to expect and why this role is so special to Mackenzie in this exclusive behind-the-scenes video.
