This Formerly Starving Rescue Dog Now Frequents the Best Restaurants
This adorable rescue dog from Los Angeles used to be a starving stray, but we're happy to report that now he has a family and a full tummy.
The little fur-ball, who goes by Popeye, has become an internet sensation thanks to his sweet story and his Instagram account Popeye The Foodie Dog, where his owner documents his daily delicious adventures, according to Bored Panda.
"I found him as a stray," said his owner Ivy Diep. "He was such a mess-super skinny, heavily matted, and dirty." At the time, Ivy already has several other dogs and wasn't looking to expand her furry family, so she tried to find Popeye another home. It wasn't long though before she realized Popeye was here to stay. After she and her husband adopted him, the pup began regularly attending lunches with Ivy and her best friend, Jen, which is when the viral fame began.
"Jen and I liked to go on what we call 'Instagram dates' and take photos of our food. I'd bring Popeye any time I can, and we realized he was really good around food," Ivy explained. "He doesn't lunge for food or really even care for it. He just liked to be out." His sweet nature combined with his irresistible cuteness made him a fun lunch date, and the perfect subject for Ivy's photos. Take a look:
Popeye now has more than 125,000 Instagram followers and plenty of foodie fun. While the sweet dog doesn't chow down on the grub he poses with, he does get his own special dog treats that Ivy brings along for him. Happy munching, little guy!
