Gavin and Stacey's Joanna Page just teased the show's return

Gavin & Stacey star Joanna Page has teased the prospect of the show returning for a reunion. The BBC sitcom was last on our screens back on Christmas Day in 2019, with the screen fading to black just as Nessa proposed to Smithy.

Page, who plays one half of the titular duo, revealed to The Sun that she is just as anxious to find out what’s next for the sitcom, and hinted that another special might not be too far away.

“[A reunion] would be so lovely,” she said. “When we all first started it was like an instant family. We’re all still constantly in touch with each other, my gosh we send each other so many messages.

“We struggle to even make time for our own families. But then I agree, we have got to find out what Smithy says to Nessa,” she added.

Page, who recently appeared on ITV’s Cooking with the Stars, also spoke about collaborating with Gavin & Stacey co-stars Alison Steadman and Larry Lamb, who play her on-screen in-laws.

The new project sees Steadman and Lamb travel from Barry to Billericay, the two locations for the BBC comedy, with Page providing the voiceover for the travel show.

“Alison and Larry have just done a show where they're going from Barry to Billericay and I’ve done the voiceover and I found it really difficult to voice because I was watching them and I kept missing my cue,” she said. “I was going ‘look at them, they're like my mum and dad. I couldn't take it seriously because I was smiling and laughing.”

The chances of a Gavin & Stacey reunion increased following James Corden’s return to the UK, with the star completing his stint as the host of The Late Late Show. The former host, who co-writes the show with Ruth Jones, teased that he met up with his colleague last year, boosting hopes of a continuation.
