In a new interview with Vogue, Clare Waight Keller, the artistic directer of Givenchy, expressed her fondness for the Duchess of Sussex and her memories of the royal wedding.

The designer told the magazine that it’s only now, a month after the royal wedding of Markle to Prince Harry, that she is fully acknowledging her achievement in being selected by the famous bride.

“It’s funny,” Waight Keller said. “It takes a while until you understand the impact you have had. When you are in it, the whole thing just feels like you are working, doing your bit.”

The 47-year-old designer continued, “It’s an amazing part of history, so I am super proud.”

On Markle’s influence, particularly her fashion influence, the British born designer chose to highlight the Duchess’s political awareness instead.

“She is someone who I think really stands for women’s rights,” Waight Keller said. “I think she is a positive change for the royal family.”

In a previous interview a day after the royal wedding, Waight Keller revealed the sweet exchange she had with Prince Harry after the ceremony at St. George’s Chapel.

“He came straight up to me and said, ‘Oh my God, thank you she looks absolutely stunning.'”

Waight Keller’s new interview with Vogue was released just before Markle made her debut at the Royal Ascot wearing a silk shirt dress custom made by Waight Keller.

According to Vanity Fair, Markle turned to the Givenchy artistic director instead of hiring a professional stylist to help her create a look for her appearance.

Like the Duchess of Cambridge’s fondness for Alexander McQueen, Markle has adopted Givenchy as her favourite fashion label.

Waight Keller took on the head role at Givenchy in 2017 and is preparing for her Givenchy Haute Couture fashion show next month in Paris.

No word on whether Markle will attend, but one thing’s for sure: Givenchy and Markle are a match made in fashion heaven.
