Goldfish Crackers Are Changing—but Only for a Limited Time

Let’s face it, some snacks just feel like they’re made for kids. Even if deep in our hearts, we know that our childhood favorites know no age, we can't help but feel slightly self-conscious about reaching for items like Capri Sun or a Lunchable.
Brands like Goldfish know our pain and offer a range of flavors that combine the nostalgia of our favorite childhood crackers with the bold tastes we enjoy as adults. In recent years, Goldfish has added new options to its already solid lineup, such as Old Bay Goldfish and Frank’s Red Hot Goldfish, which appeal to a wider range of customers. Now, the Pepperidge Farm-owned brand is going one step further and renaming the iconic cracker with its grown-up fans in mind.
Goldfish Changes Its Name to Chilean Sea Bass
Goldfish is relaunching its beloved cheesy cracker under a new name. No more grabbing a handful of your kid's Goldfish as you serve their afternoon snack. Instead, treat yourself to Chilean Sea Bass.
For a limited time, fans can score a bag with the updated name. But don’t worry, they still have the taste we all love—that part isn’t changing.
The update is inspired by those who loved Goldfish as kids but now might feel pulled towards more adult-leaning snacks. “We know the love for Goldfish spans all ages. Chilean Sea Bass is a playful nod to adults that the iconic fish-shaped snack is for grown-up tastes too,” said Danielle Brown, Vice President of Goldfish.
Those who want to get their hands on a bag of Chilean Sea Bass will have to act fast because this limited-time offering won’t be available in stores. Starting Oct. 23, fans can purchase two bags of Chilean Sea Bass online, while supplies last. There will be additional drops daily at 9 a.m. EST through Oct. 30.
If you miss out, you can always snag the traditional Goldfish bags at the grocery store, pour them out into a nice container, and start referring to them only as Chilean Sea Bass—that’s my plan, anyway.
