Got a few million to spare? This Fort Worth neighborhood boasts luxury at its finest

Eagle Mountain Lake is only a 30-minute drive from downtown Fort Worth. With 130 residential streets and about 1,550 homes, there is something for everyone.

Robby Carson is the only realtor in the area who has 100% of his sales on Eagle Mountain Lake frontage homes. He believes the appeal to the area is all about location.

“There are 32 vacation rentals on this lake as well as residential homes. The higher-priced ones are on the east side,” said Carson. The east side is close to both Fort Worth’s amenities and the Dallas-Fort Worth airport. You don’t get this kind of proximity at Lewisville or Granbury Lakes.”

Also not to mention the deep history that this part of North Texas possesses. From a World War II marine base for dive bomber pilot training to a home where the Eagles rock band vacationed, Eagle Mountain Lake has brought together people of all backgrounds and lifestyles.

The Star-Telegram toured the area with Carson. He’s lived in this neck of the woods for 60 years and knows it like the back of his hand. To him, he feels like this is Fort Worth’s slice of paradise.

To begin, Eagle Mountain Lake currently has one of the priciest homes in Fort Worth, located on Boat Club Road.

This French Traditional home is privately located on 5.4 acres, tucked behind a long driveway. The property has 12 bedrooms and 12 bathrooms. Between the house, guesthouse, and pool house, the current family can accommodate all 30 members.

“What makes this home special is LVP: location, views and privacy.” said Carson, “Out of 130 streets on the lake, Boat Club Road is the most asked about. And you cannot see this house from the road.”

The 4,000-square-foot guest house, the first building you approach on the property, looks like a home in itself. It has five bedrooms and four bathrooms, an unattached four-car garage, and a full kitchen.

Up the driveway a few yards is the beautiful 1970 mansard roof manor. This main house is 6,432 square feet with 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. The kitchen is updated with stainless steel state-of-the-art appliances.

The master bedroom looks directly out at the lake and the backyard. Outdoors, there is a large grassy area and a ground pool with a 180-degree view of Eagle Mountain Lake and the Fort Worth Boat Club.

There is also a pool house with a kitchenette, bathroom and loft bedroom. The boat dock is 12 feet, which for Eagle Mountain Lake is above average. According to Carson, docks are normally around seven feet.

The home is listed for $5.499 million and has the potential to be the most expensive home sale on Eagle Mountain Lake.

A pricey Fort Worth neighborhood

A few miles up Morris Dido Newark Road is the new Resort at Eagle Mountain Lake. This gated development has its pick of luxury homes on private canals with lake access.

A current Resort homeowner, who prefers to remain anonymous, took The Star-Telegram on a tour of his digs. He says the Resort is like a “best kept secret,” with everything retirees would need.

The average home price in the community is $1.1 million. This area of Eagle Mountain Lake is wealthier than the typical surrounding neighborhoods, which may not have lakefront access.

“The Resort on Eagle Mountain Lake is the most comprehensive development within a 90-mile radius. They have hiking, golfing, restaurants, everything one would need inside those private gates,” said Carson.

The home is a 5,534-square-foot two-story home at 12516 Lake Shore CT N. Unlike Boat Club Road, this development has very few acreage sites. The home, in particular, sits on half an acre. However, it has everything you need from a pool to a boat dock. About 90% of the resort’s homeowners have a pool, an unlikely bonus in Eagle Mountain Lake.

This custom home was built to entertain. The kitchen and living room has double doors which open to a large outdoor kitchen with a grill and patio. The pool is the star of the show, complete with bar seats for swimmers to take a break and enjoy a drink. And if swimming isn’t your thing, there is also a mini putting green.

There are five bedrooms and five and a half baths, built to accommodate children and grandchildren. There is also plenty of storage with a 42-foot RV garage, two-car garage, mudroom, and large laundry room. Not to mention, the whole house is also a smart home meaning you can control settings from your smartphone.

This golf cart community also has pickleball and tennis courts, a community dock, yoga classes, golf course, and Friday socials with live music. If you live here, you’ll rarely have to leave.

What Eagle Mountain Lake has to offer

For those who live or vacation in Eagle Mountain Lake, there are a few icons scattered throughout the neighborhood, just a buggy drive away.

For starters, Eagle Mountain Park has 500 acres of natural land and trails along the lake. The land was previously a 16-acre ranch that belonged to the Kimbell family but now serves as nine miles of hiking trails. The park opens at sunrise and closes 30 minutes after sunset every day.

Then, six miles south sits the Fort Worth Boat Club, which, according to Robby, is the “icon of Eagle Mountain Lake.” Just three years ago, this member-owned club underwent a $6 million remodel. Greg Radomski, Fort Worth Boat Club’s manager, describes the remodel as “contemporary American fare served in a relaxed environment.”

The clubhouse was originally built in 1932, the first building up along the freshly dug Eagle Mountain Lake. Sailing stars like Ted Turner have called the Boat Club their home of choice.

Radomski says, “The Fort Worth Boat Club has been Eagle Mountain Lake’s social centerpiece since 1929 when the land was donated to the members.” The remodel has kept what the members love so much but made it better: generational memberships, nautical recreation, fine dining, and health and wellness.

The Fort Worth Boat Club is on the deepest part of Eagle Mountain Lake, averaging between 37 and 42 feet. The harbor is only open to members and is located at 10000 Boat Club Rd, 365 days a year.
