The Governors Awards red carpet was even better than the Golden Globes: See looks from Eva Longoria, Margot Robbie & more

The first Oscars of the season were handed out in style.

On Tuesday, fresh off of the Golden Globes, the most buzzed about stars in Hollywood returned to the red carpet at the Ray Dolby Ballroom in Los Angeles. Stars like Margot Robbie, Eva Longoria, Natalie Portman and Zac Efron were on hand to celebrate the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences 14th Annual Governors Awards.

The awards were created to host an separate, non-televised ceremony to present honorary awards to a select few ahead of the Oscars, which will be held on March 10. This year's honourees include renowned filmmaker and comedian Mel Brooks, actress Angela Bassett, and cinematographer Carol Littleton. Film executive and founding Sundance Institute, Michelle Satter received the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award which celebrates “an individual in the motion picture arts and sciences whose humanitarian efforts have brought credit to the industry." Previous recipients of the honour include Oprah Winfrey and Michael J. Fox.

As a pre-cursor to the 96th Academy Awards, the red carpet was a who's who of this year's biggest names in film.

Margot Robbie

Robbie opted against the trademark Barbie pink in favour of a black sick gown with cut-out detail by Celine for the Governors Awards red carpet. The Australian star's look was paired with Fred Leighton jewelry that perfectly complimented the metallic detail of the plunging V-neck gown.

Eva Longoria

The "Flamin' Hot" director wowed in a gold sequinned gown by Sophie Couture for the red carpet. The 48-year-old actress and producer styled the look with a sleek ponytail and Messika's "Born to Be Wild Desert Bloom" diamond necklace and diamond rings.

Tia Carrere

The 57-year-old "Waynes World" star looked glamorous in a metallic emerald green halter-neck gown. Carrere wore her hair in a '60s-inspired blow-out with gold tassel earrings.

Natalie Portman

Fresh off of earning the title of Yahoo Canada's Best Dressed at the 2024 Golden Globes, Portman opted against her usual Dior fare for something edgier. The "May December" star hit the red carpet of the Governors Awards in a black silk column gown with chain detailing paired with a bold red lip and soft, elegant waves.

Charles Melton

Breakout "May December" star Charles Melton went for a monochrome velvet and satin look by Giorgio Armani for the Governors Awards. The 33-year-old Alaskan sported jewel-encrusted smoking slippers and tousled hair for a laidback but polished look.

Emily Blunt

The "Oppenheimer" star shifted gears from her metallic Golden Globe Awards look to an edgy Miu Miu gown with bold crystal embellishment.
