The Gremlin Revealed It's Identity on 'The Masked Singer' Before Being Eliminated

From Woman's Day

Another week, another group of celebrities to uncover. On Sept. 30, Group B of The Masked Singer's season 4 performers took to the stage in attempts to wow and puzzle fans and judges. But one creature couldn't stand the heat — literally, they said it was too hot beneath their costume — and decided to shed it's mask before the vote. In a Masked Singer first, the Gremlin revealed its identity before being eliminated.

Prior to this costumed celebrity's debut performance, Fox shared little information about it: not even a sneak peak performance. Of course, that didn't stop fans from sharing their thoughts. Guesses included Martin Short, Drew Lachey, and even Joe Jonas.

But the Gremlin decided to put an end tot he guessing games, and eliminated itself from the competition.

So who is the Gremlin?

It turned out that judge Jenny McCarthy was right with her guess of Mickey Rourke (earning her another point towards the Golden Ear.)

Although no one really had enough time to suss out how the clues connected to the Oscar-nominated actor, here is a breakdown:

  • The iron is a reference to his role in Iron Man 2.

  • The cookie clue hinted to Rourke's pen name, Eddie Cook.

When asked why he decided to participate in The Masked Singer, Rourke said he was "in the neighborhood."

"I do like the show," he continued. "I watched, like, four episodes and they asked, 'would you be interested,' so I watched like, from the very beginning and all that sh-t."

It's clear that the actor was not in it for the long haul, leaving a spot open for a more dedicated celebrity to take the crown.
