Harry and Meghan just made a major change to Archie and Lilibet's names

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle caused a stir amongst royal commentators earlier this week when the pair announced their rebrand.

As we previously told you, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex launched a brand new website which will share more “personal updates” for followers.

Instead of Archewell.com, the couples’ main ‘office’ will now be Sussex.com.

And now, it's been revealed that the pair are expanding their rebrand to include their children too, with Archie and Lilibet both undergoing a name change. Moving forward, the siblings will both officially use the surname 'Sussex' – something the Duke and Duchess have said will 'unify' their family.

Whilst this may be news to the public, it seems as though the Sussex moniker has actually be in place for a while instead of Mountbatten-Windsor, Prince Archie, four, and Princess Lilibet, two, have been using the surname Sussex since King Charles’s coronation in May last year, according to royal sources.

The new rebrand is to bring all the couple’s projects — and both their children — under the same umbrella website.

“The reality behind the new site is very simple — it’s a hub for the work the Sussexes do and it reflects the fact the family have, since the King’s coronation, the same surname for the first time,” an insider told The Times. “That’s a big deal for any family. It represents their unification and it’s a proud moment.”

The Sussex.com website was also launched in a bid to distinguish the Sussex’s other endeavours, such as the Invictus Games, from their Archewell charitable foundation and Archewell Production company.

Speaking about the rebrand, Meghan spoke about why she has fostered a close partnership with the team that designed the new website.

“There is a reason I have worked with Ryan and the talented team at Article for a decade: their attention to detail, their creativity and care, and the thoughtful approach to design as well as to the user experience,” she said in a statement.

“They are not just designers; they are collaborators who elevate your ideas into visual identities.

“They are a very special company. Plus they are Canadian, so I am a fan.”

The rebrand comes just weeks after King Charles announced he had been diagnosed with cancer. Prince Harry flew over from America to visit his father, before returning to the States the following day.
