Here's How to Make the Easiest 2-Ingredient Fruit Leather

It couldn't be easier.

Fruit leathers, like Fruit Roll-Ups, hold a special place in my heart as a quintessential childhood snack. But did you know that you can easily recreate these delightful fruit leathers with simple ingredients in your very own oven? That’s right, with just a handful of ingredients you can bring the nostalgic deliciousness that is a fruit leather strip to the comfort of your home.

Even better, making fruit leather at home requires no special ingredients or equipment. The recipe itself couldn’t be easier—so easy, in fact, that you’ll wish that you’d been making fruit leather at home this entire time. All it takes is the fruit of your choice and a few squeezes of lemon juice that acts as a non-artificial preserver. Blend the two ingredients together and then spread them thinly on parchment paper before baking them at a low temperature for a few hours before it dries out and becomes leathery. The recipe is incredibly flexible so if you prefer it sweeter, you are more than welcome to add sweeteners and other fruits.

Beyond replicating your favorite childhood snack, and as an avid gardener, making fruit leather is my all-time favorite way to make the most of excess produce. And that’s a high praise, because I’m the first person to make jams and preserves with my seasonal fruits. I’m personally dealing with an influx of blueberries, so for this recipe I’m using a pound of fresh blueberries to make a blueberry fruit leather.
